UHMWPE Slings for Heavy Lifting

liftrue | Manufacturer & Supplier

Ultra-lightweight UHMWPE round sling with superior fatigue and chemical resistance, weighing 1/6 of equivalent steel wire rope.

Key Features

  • Breaking strength up to 15× stronger than polyester at equal diameter — enables smaller, lighter hardware
  • Hydrophobic and non-absorbent: resists seawater, chemicals, and UV degradation in harsh environments
  • Low elongation with high bending-fatigue life for accurate load positioning
  • Operating temperature range of -125°C to 80°C for extreme-temperature projects

FAQ

UHMWPE Slings FAQs

Choose UHMWPE when you need superior fatigue resistance, chemical resistance, low elongation, or extreme-temperature performance. At equal capacity, UHMWPE weighs roughly one-sixth of steel wire rope, making it ideal for deep-sea, petrochemical, offshore wind, and marine heavy-lift projects.

Yes. We supply both endless and eye & eye configurations, with custom lengths and terminations to match your hooks, shackles, or lifting beams.

UHMWPE slings perform reliably from -125°C to 80°C, making them suitable for cold-climate, offshore, and cryogenic-adjacent applications.

UHMWPE slings are manufactured to EN 1492-2 with CE marking and available with batch MTC, proof-load certificates, and third-party inspection reports for critical lifts.

UHMWPE fiber is hydrophobic and highly resistant to seawater, most industrial chemicals, and UV degradation, making it ideal for offshore, marine, and chemical-exposed environments.

Standard terminations include reinforced soft eyes, thimbled eyes for shackle compatibility, and custom-length spliced eyes with CNC-braided sleeves. We match termination type to your crane hook size, shackle WLL, and lifting beam pin diameter.

Store clean, dry, and away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Inspect for fiber cuts, abrasion, melted areas, or damaged sleeves before each lift. Retire any sling showing core damage.

Retire when in doubt: Slings are cheap. The load (and lives) they protect are not. UHMWPE slings show damage differently — look for fiber fuzzing, sheath slippage, or reductions in diameter that indicate core damage. The ultra-high strength means even minor visible damage can signal significant strength loss. Withdraw immediately if you see cuts, abrasion, chemical damage, heat marks, missing labels, or any structural deformation.

Safety

UHMWPE Round Sling Safety & Usage Guidelines

1
UHMWPE shows damage differently — inspect carefully for fiber fuzzing, sheath slippage, or any reduction in sling diameter that signals core damage
2
Even minor visible damage can mean significant strength loss — ultra-high-strength fibers carry extreme load in a small cross-section, so retire on the first sign of damage
3
Never exceed the working load limit (WLL) marked on the identification tag; UHMWPE slings reach very high WLL at a fraction of polyester weight
4
UHMWPE is sensitive to abrasion and UV — always use a protective sleeve on sharp or rough loads and store away from direct sunlight
5
Do not tie knots or shorten — knots severely derate UHMWPE and can cause unpredictable failure under high load
6
Apply angle-factor derating for multi-leg UHMWPE assemblies per EN 13414-1; the lightweight feel must not lead to overconfidence about leg loading
7
Operating temperature range: -125°C to +80°C for UHMWPE; UHMWPE softens above 80°C — keep well clear of hot pipes, welding arcs, and steam lines
8
Retire immediately if you see cuts, fiber fuzzing, sheath slippage, chemical exposure (UHMWPE is attacked by strong oxidizers), heat marks, or missing tags
